Boards > Vote for Us, get Name in the Credits.

Here's how serious I am about the blog -- I know some of you read the boards without looking there, so I reposted it here because we needs you.

---

Here's the thing. We badly need your help. Yahoo! has been kind enough to nominate Break a Leg as one of the top five contestants as the "Best Web Series" on Yahoo. This is a big honor and dammit, we want to win it. The competition is very, very stiff -- aside from Abigail's XXX Teen Rated Diary that's giving us a run for our money, we've got The Guild -- a good show that has a very rowdy, loud, gamer-related fanbase.

In fact, I think one of them said they were a better fanbase then you guys -- can you believe that?!

What we need from you guys is simple. We need you to vote for us. Here's how.

1. Go here: http://www.yvideoblog.com/blog/2008/03/11/yahoo-video-awards-best-series/
2. Select us.
3. Click vote.
4. This is optional. Email us (info@breakaleg.tv) your name and not only will you appear in our special thanks section for the next, future episode, but Mint will sing a song with every submitted name on the list. That's right. One song. All of your names. One video dedicated to it. You'll all be famous.

Please, please, please help us out and tell your friends. It takes half a second to vote and again, it does wonders for our exposure. Tell your friends, tell your AIM buddies, tell your family, tell your enemies -- but let's show the power of the Break a Leg fanbase.

And don't forget to send us your full names to the email (or respond to this blog with it.)

Thanks, guys!

-Yuri and the Team

Wait... so all we have to do is a) vote and b) tell you our names, and we suddenly become famous? What's the catch?

By the way, it's Jenny Horowitz

March 12, 2008 | Registered CommenterJenny

Done and done!

(I've always wanted to be in a song. But promise me something, Mint... You'll call me fem-kah or fem-kuh the way it's supposed to be said--not fem-key)

March 12, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFemke

No last name then, FemKUH?

March 12, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterYuri Baranovsky

Last names are for squares.

March 12, 2008 | Registered CommenterJenny

With a first name like mine, it's amazing how little you need a last name as an identifier.

I also get to find out anytime anyone knows of anyone else named Femke (or Fimka or Famke or...) in Canada. There's one of me in Toronto.

March 12, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFemke

i saw it and voted without being aware of the post. But it said in the lead was a sitcom called The Guild. Its pretty funny, but in all aspects (writing, effects camera work) you guys should be ahead....sorry guild!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Okay, Yuri, I wasn't going to put my name in the hat here. I was just going to vote anonymously, but then you had to go and tell us that Mint will sing our name...I can't pass that up.

Robb

I have a question though; will Mint sing my name for every time I've voted for BaL? Because I don't want the song to be ALL me, but...I've voted a few times.

And I suggest that everyone else vote a few times as well (for BaL)! "The Guild" has some rabid fans and they're turning out en masse! And since the people at Yahoo have neglected to nominate another certain great internet sitcom (a personal favorite of mine, one that I won't mention here), BaL deserves to win!

Vote, vote and vote again (because I'm certain the competition is)!

Oh, and as a side-note - REALLY? PUNCHY? Since when do two videos equal a SHOW?

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRobb

Mint?! Sing my name?! Oh god, I could not pass that up! (He is just too adorable:P) It's Maggie, by the way.

Oh, and this fan base is the most pimp fan base ever!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMaggie

Son of a bitching Guild.

I refuse to watch it.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSt. Anna Swambler

Only a 1,000 behind... come oooon! we can do it!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterYuri Baranovsky

See, that's the problem: The Guild is by gamers, about gamers, for gamers. Their target audience is hax! They probably have bots running to keep updating the vote count.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

Naah. It's as simple as gamers will stick actively by their show and you post this on WoW message boards, and you'll get 1,000 votes quick. Where can we post where we can get that many votes quick?

March 13, 2008 | Registered CommenterBreak a Leg

I'll see if I can get Gail to post on the Jim Butcher boards. I think there's a crap ton of people on there.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

Facebook?
As you've probably already guessed, I live there. I'll get on that.

March 13, 2008 | Registered CommenterJenny

Myspace maybe?

March 13, 2008 | Registered CommenterJenny

(This is what I do instead of my history paper)

March 13, 2008 | Registered CommenterJenny

Well, since we were nominated on tuesday, this IS history.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterYuri Baranovsky

I actually just watched The Guild (my paper is due tomorrow, so naturally I'll do anything to procrastinate) and... it's really not bad. Don't worry, it's nowhere near as good as BaL.

March 13, 2008 | Registered CommenterJenny

How do you feel about multiple votes?

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFemke

Jenny! for shame! there is nothing else but Break a Leg, it should consume your very life and essence :0(

Heh, nah, the Guild actually is pretty good from what I've seen of it, plus the main gal on it was on Buffy, which is an instant bonus. But, in the face of this competition, the Guild in my eyes is currently Satan's material form on this planet, a pox and curse upon the earth and should be removed and condemned back to the fiery pits of hell from which it came.

:0)

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDashiell

Always happy to help out my favorite show! Hope you guys win!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterToby

by "the guild" you mean CAG, right? i don't know of any other guilds you could be talking about. especially not any shows about guilds...

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

That was my exact thought when I saw the name.

Also, I love that I can identify Dashiell's posts just by a glance at the smiley faces.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSt. Anna Swambler

I did think it was pretty damn ironic that it was "the guild" that was beating us. It's eerily frightening how much life starts imitating life.

I have found myself not so much acting like David Penn as being put into situations where I'm forced to act like David Penn. Where I have conversations with people like David Penn because they're so bizarre. It's.. interesting.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterYuri Baranovsky

i used to be able to identify hannah by her smiley faces, but I HAVEN'T SEEN HER AROUND IN AGES.

March 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

Hmm. Do you think CAG could take this Guild out? Child actors vs. gamers. That could be interesting...

By the way, I voted and am now off to vote on the other accounts on my computer and possibly use threats of violence to get all my friends to vote. My name's Sophie :]

March 17, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSophie

IMO Vote for the guild, Much better series and who can beat 4min's of DDR, screw putting my name on a video. :O

March 17, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJMXN

JMXN -- really? Going on our boards to get people to vote for another show? You think some of our fans will be like, "You know what! Guy with acronym-sounding name is right! I'm not going to vote for the show that I actively watch but listen to him instead!"

Surely, sir, you jest.

March 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterYuri

hey J, you do know that the DDR clip comes if they win the youtube award, right? i'm not even a fan of theirs but i know the rules better.

so that means you can get the DDR video (which they'll release even if they lose. they won't let all of their fans down like that.) and the song with your name, because they're different contests!

March 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

Just watched the "Vote for Us" video (and posted the link on the Brick forum).

Pretty funny, guys.

March 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDuane

Done done :)

The guild can flipping rot in rabies hell! BaL owns ANYTIME.

I am fricking in love to death with the show. I'd drive around town in a convertible piled to the brim with beets with the polka blasting to gather votes...if I could only get a hold of ten thousand beets and a convertible.

March 19, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChloe Ith

Hey Kevin!
=]
Aghhh.
My computer broke for a couple of months and then I got all out of the Break a Leg loop.
And I'm trying to get back in and I DON'T KNOW HOW.
But yeah.
Sadness.
And I voted.

March 19, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHannah

No computer for months? How did you survive?!?!

Well, there's only one thing to do, start from the beginning and watch all of BaL anew :0P.

and Chloe, please, please find a way to make that happen, I may even donate to the cause, it doesn't neccesarily have to be thousands of beats, you might be able to get away with having some kind of fake beet base, and then just having hundreds of beats on top, to create the illusion of thousands of beats.

March 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDashiell

Hey guys,

BaL gave The Guild such a run for its money. This is definitely not over till its over. Personally, I'm glad this happened because it showed both fan bases and their dedication to their respective shows.

fyi Kent from Yahoo doesn't suspect foul play from either side http://www.yvideoblog.com/ which is good, since that isn't fun.

I hope the other The Guild fans subscribe and watch this sitcom as I have/will.

Lastly, Yuri Baranovsky, since the BaL fans did deliver as requested and you guys WERE in the lead for a while (and may still do it again) it calls for a reward, I say... involving Mint... I'll even stop mentioning that commercial, I promise. I know you guys were probably going to do it anyway, but I am curious about Mint singing FemKUH with no last name, so I posted this to make sure it happens.

March 20, 2008 | Registered CommenterEdgar Garcia

Edgar, it's going to happen, don't you worry. We have over 60 names now (you'd think there'd be more, but I supposed anonymous do-gooders are okay by us and Mint's vocal cords) so, the song should be, well.. interesting.

March 20, 2008 | Registered CommenterBreak a Leg

no offense to Kent from yahoo, but he's dead wrong. there was obviously cheating. now, i'm not saying that BaL would have won without any cheating, but i mean, come on.

i also found out that the recent boost of the guild's votes came courtesy of Nathan Fillion. i hope you're happy Nathan. i'll never watch firefly again. (that's probably a lie)

March 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

I tend to agree with Kevin, there was cheating on both sides, unfortunately, but -- c'est la vie.

And yes, we can't really compete with Nathan Fillion, unfortunately..

March 20, 2008 | Registered CommenterBreak a Leg

Wait...Nathan Fillion voted in this thing?

As in "You'll need a sword."
"A swhat?"

March 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

apparently he posted a bulletin on myspace to all of his fans saying to vote for the guild. so that's where all of the new votes came from.

just think, nathan fillion has at least heard of your show when reading the contestants and telling people to vote against you!

i'm afraid i'm going to have to relinquish my brown coat...

March 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

I gotta get Felicia to show him our show...

Nathan Fillion in the next Break a Leg? Let's start the petition now.

March 20, 2008 | Registered CommenterBreak a Leg

i'm in!

i think nathan fillion got to see the guild because he's in joss wheadon's new musical with felicia.

March 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

Nathan and Felicia worked on Buffy together (not sure if they had scenes together), and probably saw each other at the WGA strike, "probably" since I know Joss called in all his peeps for that or at least I saw pics of Felicia and Summer Glau together.

If Nathan had his own web-show he'd beat both camps I'm sure... lots-o-browncoats.

Cameos would be nice.

March 21, 2008 | Registered CommenterEdgar Garcia

so has the song been written/performed yet?

March 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

*in a melodic voice*

We have fans like Robb and Jenny
and ones we can't pronounce as Fem-key
but this one's out to anonymous
cuz that's easier to sing for us

Aaaaaa no ny mousssssss

etc.

March 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFemke

I voted for you guys. Put my name in the credits, with a halo around it.

March 23, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJ.H. Christ

The guild can kiss my sweet black behind.

March 23, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJ.H. Christ

As one of the two saints here who post on a regular basis, let me be the first to say, happy day-you-busted-out-of-that-cave-those-guys-stuck-you-in day!

...or Easter, for the uneducated

March 23, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSt. Anna Swambler

And it WAS a Happy Easter. Who the **** would put someone in a CAVE??? Do you have ANY idea how much work it took to move that rock? Yeah, yeah, Son of God, I know, but I'm not made of fairy-dust. And there's no reception in a cave so how was I supposed to get a hold of the Big Man? Ree-Dog-Gamn-diculous.

Who's the other saint here?

March 24, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJ.H. Christ

Well if Nathan Fillion is voting for the opposition, I don't feel quite as bad about losing, but I do have a deep and pulsating anger that fills my soul to the brim.

Oh well, congrats to the Guild, now let's get that crossover in the works, so that one day, Mal can come swooping down to save David from certain peril, two 'verses combined, Mal saves Bal!
