Boards > Fan Suggestions, Needs, Wants, Secret Desires.

Hey, guys.

I really liked some of the responses in the blog where we asked what we could change about the show, the website, Jennifer's face -- I liked it enough to make a full message board thread about it.

Here are some things a few of you noted that I'll answer here:

Commentary/Bloopers:Agreed. We'll start making them and ideally release a few of one or the other in the following few weeks.

phpBB Board: We're talking to FYI about this right now. Either this board will get a facelift or we'll look into getting a better one. So, sit tight with this.

Blog (Production Blog?): I love the idea of doing a production blog (thanks Nick) -- and we've been talking to our actors and Vlad and everyone, and I'd like to get our blog updated at least one a day. It may take us a few weeks to get to that number, but I'd like it to get there.

Karasu: You worried about character development in the next episode. Well, have no fear. One of the main reasons I love good TV is character development. The next crop of episodes will not only push the plot forward, you'll also see a lot of character development along the way.

Hannah: Bash Roommates -- done and done.

Chat: We're going to try and figure out a way to include this in the site, sit tight for that.

Hannah: You mention some of our episodes are a bit inconsistent. We were curious if you had any specific details? And if any of you, in general, have any sort of consistency issues that we could help resolve or fix in later episodes.

So, those are my answers to that.

For those who haven't answered my blog, here it is, feel free to share your thoughts!

How is the content? Are you enjoying the story? Is each episode getting better? Are you enjoying the conversations? Do you wish we would do something different? Do you have suggestions for the content, in general?

How is the website? Is there something that bugs you? Is the navigation easy? Do you want any more options (that we can potentially provide?) Do you want us to post in the blog more often? Do you want someone else to write in the blog, because I bore you tremendously? Is there anything you'd like to see more of?

Finally, anything I didn't think of? Any problems you have with us or anything related to the show? Any suggestions you have for anything at all? Do you like Chase's new hat?

Hmm, I wrote a review/overview of the show on my blog which pretty much sums up my current feelings on the topic.

I've said this as a comment on "Loobtube" as well, but whatever: Will you guys be releasing bloopers for minisodes and conversations, or do guys just not have enough time...or it doesnt matter

Oh, they will. Let me assure you that they will.

They will. *insertevilsmilehere*

YOU GUYS.
My birthday is on the Twenty-seventh [of December.]
You should do something for me, because I'm your number one fan.
Or you could, um, just say happy birthday on here, I suppose.

Well,

Unlike others, I don't like bloopers: I prefer to read commentaries in text form. I don't like having to download the same video twice just to listen to the commentary. Bloopers just clutter my tubes.

What I want is more real, scripted content. Episodes that end, minisodes, microsodes. As long as they are scripted and funny, I love them. In other words, I want more of exactly what you're giving us right now!

My own suggestions:

1) In the main episodes, I'd like to see the fictional cast and crew actually trying to make the sitcom instead of just sitting around waiting for something to go wrong. I'd like to see Groommates actually in production.

2) Less Hollywood jokes please. Child actor's guild? Sewers? I don't care. Jokes about dramatic production are ok, but that's only because I'm an aspiring filmmaker myself. But I think you'd be happier if you could connect to people who don't live in Hollywood and who don't want to make sitcoms!

Thanks for asking!

Seun --

1) Agreed. That was mostly due to budget. This next episode, the cast is in production.

2) The show takes place in and around Hollywood -- and not just Hollywood, but a strange, fantastical Hollywood that we've created. This world will be one of the main features of the show, and there will definitely be more guilds, guild wars, and general satirical Hollywood-related material.

Thanks for the comments, though!

Hmmm.

About (1) Thanks; looking forward to the next episode!

About (2) Hypothetically, if one must satirize Hollywood, might it not be safer to satirize the parts of Hollywood that common people are familiar with? That is, the stuff that's reported in entertainment news? Celebrity romance and infidelity, their partying, drug problems, fights, mistakes, etc? But how can you satirize something whose existence you average viewer isn't aware of? For example, the labor guilds in Hollywood?

Please understand that I am not trying to be a pain in your butt, but I just wish I could get something I could share with members of my family who don't have the slightest interest in what goes on behind the scene of movies and TV shows.

For example, the Floobtube minisode might appeal to anyone who watches Youtube or online videos. Now that's shareable. ;-) Minisodes that revolve around romance or attempted romance should also be shareable. Well, I hope to run a sitcom studio one day. Cheers!

i feel like if you want to watch a tv show about romance or cheating or drugs, there's plenty out there for you. the reason i like BaL is because it's like nothing else. i love shows about sort of the "behind the scenes" nature of tv or movies. i LOVED Studio 60 because of how interesting it was (and the writing was great, too) and i LOVE 30 rock, even though it's not so much about their tv show too much anymore. (it's still a quality show, though. anybody catch the "lemon party" line last night?)

Break a Leg is just an extreme version of Hollywood that's turned on its ear. i live in virginia, and have no connections to Hollywood, nor do i know much about it. i know that there's guilds and stuff (with the writer's strike it's hard not to know about the WGA), and the rest of it isn't too hard to grasp. there's writers, directors, producers and all of that. maybe it's not the most relateable or shareable, but i really like it the way that it is, and would rather it stay the same and have a nice group of dedicated fans than have it change everything for more people to "get it."

i definitely see your point, Seun, but this is just how i see it.

I think the idea of us creating our own Hollywood works in two parts -- one, it's different and interesting, two, all the viewers start from the same spot -- i.e. no one knows about OUR brand of Hollywood.

While people in Hollywood may recognize some of the subtle jabs at the industry, our Hollywood is not at all similar to the real one. You know, no one lives in the sewers and there are no guild wars. The basic ideas are all explained throughout the script and we try to make it accessible to everyone. I imagine it's a bit like watching a fairy tale - you don't know the rules of the world, you don't know what hobbits or dwarves or elves are, necessarily, but you learn as the show or movie goes on. Same for Break a Leg -- the world is new, but as more episodes are released, the average viewer will become familiar with the world and its fiction.

Hope that makes sense!
